Peter was a rabbit with ears as long as the nile.
Though as sharp as he was-
He heard past the hushing to the noise all the while-
Voices spoke clear and he stopped not once to listen.
Consistent they remained; incase one day he'd stolen to catch a glisten.
Incase he'd decide perhaps to let his feet in the water-
To let the smooth stones nourish his toes in a totter.
Peter paused- to his surprise
For he heard his name a-cry
A calling urgent- time to heal
Time to see the old self die.
